Château de Cognac

The Château de Cognac was built on the banks of the Charente between the XIIIth and XVIth centuries. For 200 years it has been the property of the Baron Otard cognac house. The château witnessed the birth of Francois 1st on 12 September 1494. The façade overlooking the Charente still bears the King’s emblem, the Salamander.
